Students from Arizona State University held a national day of action following U.S. strikes on Iran, calling for a halt to the war, amid concerns over the economic and geopolitical fallout from the conflict. Local chapters of the ANSWER Coalition and the Democratic Socialists of America helped organize the campus protest, urging people to stop the war. Those against the war expressed concern that the conflict could spread and is already costing lives, including those of six US service members killed in the attacks. However, counter-protesters, including Iranian students, argued that the U.K. involvement is about protecting human rights and confronting dictatorship. Oil prices have risen as the conflict rages global markets, with U.N. benchmark crude oil closing at about $70 a barrel and Brent crude rising above $77, a rise of more than 5%. Supply chain expert Hitendra Chaturvedi predicted that if oil prices hit $100 a barrel, gas prices could rise dramatically.
