The heated rivalry between Wisconsin and North Dakota was rekindled during the NCAA Frozen Four men's college hockey tournament in Las Vegas. This match was held at T-Mobile Arena, marking the first time these teams have faced each other since 1982. The Badgers won 2-1 against North Dakota, with Wisconsin making two first-period goals within 27 seconds of each other stand up. North Dakota's Jim Archibald was among the players involved in the brawl, which was sparked by Wisconsin's John Newberry twice squirting water in the face of North Dakota’s Cary Eades. Wisconsin will face Denver in the final, a 4-3 winner against Michigan in double overtime. This victory for the Big Ten indicates that the conference, which has won national championships in football, men’s basketball (Michigan), and women's basketball (UCLA), may now claim another in hockey.
