Thai cargo ship, the Mayuree Naree, was hit by Iranian fire while navigating the Strait of Hormuz, without warning. The ship was among 23 crew members, including Chawarit Chaiwong, who had worked at sea for over 10 years. The crew had no idea where the shots were coming from, who was firing, or if there was a warship out there. The incident occurred without warning and left the ship trapped in the Persian Gulf as war raged nearby. The owners of the ship, Precious Shipping, stated that they conducted a comprehensive assessment of the situation before leaving and had appropriate precautionary measures in place.
