Two Dallas groups, Grover Wilkins III, artistic director of Orchestra of New Spain and Avant Chamber Ballet, are producing a reimagining of Igor Stravinsky's classic ballet Pulcinella, inspired by the commedia dell’arte. The new version will be performed by a 25-piece orchestra and about 20 dancers. The original version will feature Spanish composer Manuel de Falla's Andalusian-flavored El amor brujo. The piece has been relocated from Italy to Mexico for local relevance and has been moved to Mexico to be reimagined. The performance will be part of Avant's Family Series on March 27-28 at a preconcert hosted by Stephen Lochbaum.
