Sofia Coppola and Marc Jacobs have collaborated on a documentary, Marc by Sofia, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2025. The film follows Jacobs for the 12 weeks leading up to his spring 2024 show with backstage footage and reflections on his career milestones. Despite initially being nervous about how the film would be perceived, Jacobs was pleased with the result. The documentary, which includes no script and a stripped-bare production, was filmed without significant equipment or hair and makeup, and was filmed from the beginning of the runway show to the end of the day. The filmmaker, who has known Jacobs since the early '90s, expressed her desire to capture his process from first fittings to final bow.
