DA Bragg demands Facebook block scammers from targeting vulnerable migrants

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has called on Facebook to implement safeguards to combat the growing scam targeting undocumented New Yorkers. The scam involves scammers posing as pro-bono immigration services, posing as legal organizations and religious groups. Victims typically send their payment money outside the US, making it difficult for authorities to recover stolen funds. The DA has requested that Meta include a reporting option for law enforcement to report impostors and suspend accounts suspected of participating in the scam.
