DC native leaves teaching job to open bakery Lou's Buns

Alexandria Diggs, a Washington, D.C. native, has opened Lou's Buns, a bakery that serves regulars and out-of-state visitors. Diggs was teaching English to students in Japan before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down, where she turned to baking and selling cinnamon buns. After selling out of buns, she decided to pursue entrepreneurship full-time. Her business now operates in L'Enfant Plaza and has four different flavors, including sweet potato, classic red velvet, and Funfetti. Despite these challenges, Diggs plans to expand the business globally.
