Two La Jolla private schools keep mental health at top of mind in different ways

Two La Jolla Country Day School and Stella Maris Academy are taking steps to improve students' mental health amid the increasing use of technology and anxiety. The schools aim to encourage students to build habits that promote academic success and social interaction. Country Day hosted its third annual Middle School Mental Health Awareness Day on March 20 for students in fifth through eighth grade, aimed at helping students understand the effects of technology use, nutrition, and self-care on academic performance. StellaMaris Academy is focusing on reducing students' screen time during class, especially English language and grammar classes. The event was led by Donovan Taylor Hall of national nonprofit organization Active Minds, who delivered a speech about his own journey and how students can apply his lessons to their lives.
