Crime blotter: Chinese national sentenced in Apple counterfeiting case

Chinese national Zhengxuan Hu, a 28-year-old Chinese national living in the San Gabriel Valley, has been sentenced to two years in prison for his role in a "counterfeit iPhone and iPad exchange scheme" that cost Apple $16.2 million. Hu was one of six people convicted of participating in the scheme, which involved defrauding Apple Inc. through fraudulent returns of counterfeit Apple goods. An 18-year old from New York was also arrested in Orange County for stealing several iPhones from Apple Stores. A group of hackers suspected of ties to the Russian government has targeted iPhone users in Ukraine using Darksword, the new hacking toolkit Apple released to contain. A car theft in Milwaukee led to viral video and charges in the man, who was charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety, driving without the owner's consent, and bail jumping.
