A study by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco has revealed that employees who work from home earn on average 12 percent higher hourly wages than fully on-site workers. This finding is surprising as more companies increase the time employees are required to spend in the office, often to opposition from their staff. The study also found that individuals are willing to forgo approximately 25 percent of total compensation for a job that offers partially or entirely remote work, which is often more cost-effective than a fully-in-person job. The findings suggest that many people are not having to sacrifice their salary to maintain their flexible working arrangements.
