Mecas 2026 returns to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival with a more targeted selection of 14 titles from Europe, Africa, and Latin America. The main change was in how Mecas selected its projects, inviting directors and producers who had previously participated in the previous five editions to submit new work and recommend other projects. This approach yielded over 70 submissions. The lineup includes eight projects in Cine Casi Hecho and six in Terrero Lab. The platform defines itself as a space for films "without commercial vocation" with a €8,000 ($9,359) award for almost-finished projects and €5,000 for films in development.
