A pilot pilot Justin Myers, inspired by a documentary on the final flight of Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan, believes he may have found the remnants of her final plane, the Lockheed Electra 10E. Myers compared the measurements of anomalies in a Google Earth image to the components of the Earhart plane. However, no major institutions have yet investigated Myers' claims. His theory is based on several on-site investigations which have found artifacts such as improvised tools, clothing, an aluminum panel and a piece of Plexiglas the exact width and curvature of an Electra window. Despite initial interest in the plane, Myers was not a lifelong Earhart obsessive and began researching the island of Nikumaroro Island, where he found the debris on Google Earth. He suggests that luck may have played a role in spotting the plane debris.
