The Southern Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce has warned of potential tax hikes linked to a four-bill package at the Colorado State Capitol. The Democratic-led proposal aims to separate the state’t tax law from federal regulations and result in an estimated $580 million tax increase for businesses of all sizes. The chamber argues that this shift would undermine economic competitiveness and shift the state's budget shortfall onto employers. It also concerns that these changes could drive families and businesses to leave the state. The bills, which also include the Taxpayer’’S Bill of Rights, were written to avoid voter approval and are still under consideration in the House Finance and Appropriations Committee.
