The company, Meta, has announced that it is keeping its VR metaverse running despite previously announcing it would shut down the VR version of its 3D social platform Horizon Worlds due to a focus on mobile. However, in an AMA on Instagram, CTO Andrew Bosworth revealed that existing VR worlds will remain available and the Horizon Worlds VR app will be available to download for the foreseeable future. Despite recent controversies over VR software, including laying off 10 percent of its Reality Labs division, closing three VR studios, and discontinuing its metaverse for work, Bosworth believes that the company has always emphasized the concept of the metaverse as a digital, physical construct.
