Israel has launched a series of strikes against Iran ahead of a planned U.N. Security Council meeting to discuss attacks on Iranian civilian infrastructure. The Israeli military targeted sites used by Iran to produce ballistic missiles and weapons, and also hit missile launchers and storage sites in western Iran. The U.S. has been urging Iran to start talks on a 15-point ceasefire proposal, but has also ordered thousands more troops to the region, possibly in preparation for a military attempt to remove the Strait of Hormuz from Iran's grip. Since the war began, more than 1,900 people have been killed in Iran and 1,100 people have died in Lebanon. Since then, Israel and the United States attacked Iran on February 28 to start the war.
