St. Louis County Executive Sam Page is set to announce a proposal to consolidate various city and county services in an effort to address ongoing budget challenges within the county. The proposal includes expanding cooperation between the two entities to include policing, street maintenance and public health. A significant portion of the proposal involves the City of St. Louis potentially rejoining the county as a municipality. Page believes these additions could increase government efficiencies. He also suggests that one central building could represent both the city and the county instead of maintaining separate facilities.
