The European Commission is considering forcing Google to open Android to other AI assistants in a bid to improve the user experience. This comes after an initial investigation into the company's implementation of AI into the Android operating system. The commission argues that there are currently too many experiences on Android that only work with Google's Gemini AI. This is in response to the Digital Markets Act, which designates seven dominant technology companies as "gatekeepers" to ensure fair competition.
