Phil Collins, a Grammy winner, has revealed that he nearly died from alcohol abuse in an interview with the Sunday Times. The former Genesis drummer, who has Type 2 diabetes and complications from a 2007 spinal injury, was under 24-hour care and could no longer hold his drum sticks properly without feeling pain. He also experienced kidney issues and underwent five operations on his knee. These issues were likely due to his alcohol abuse. Collins has not had a drink since the incident and is set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist on Nov. 14.
