Production has begun on The Summer I Turned Prettymovie, with fans capturing the cast as they filmed a boat scene in Southport, North Carolina on April 30. The film is set to be directed by Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, and Rain Spencer. However, there was also drama on set due to a "salary issue" that led to renegotiating their salaries ahead of season 3. The cast was reportedly told they would only receive salary increases if they agreed to the movie, though some felt forced to sign under duress.
