Spanish startup Multiverse Computing is expanding its compressed AI models into mainstream use. The company has launched an app showcasing the capabilities of its compressed models and an API portal that allows developers to access them. The CompactifAI app uses a small model called Gilda, which can run locally and offline, but loses its privacy edge due to its reliance on external compute infrastructure. However, the app's limitations mean it is not yet ready for mass customer adoption yet. Multiverse is also launching a self-serve API portal to give developers direct access to its compressed model. This move comes as private company defaults are at the highest rate in years, with a 9.2% rate among private companies.
