The first wave of a massive job cuts at Oracle, headed by billionaire Larry Ellison, is expected to occur in California by June 1, with 700 workers expected to lose their jobs. This is part of a larger job cutout that could total up to 30,000 workers across the state. The company plans to cut 310 workers in Redwood City, 184 in Santa Clara, 158 in Pleasanton and 50 in Santa Monica. The layoffs have already led to high unemployment rates in the San Francisco Bay Area, with other tech companies also cutting jobs this year as they invest billions in artificial intelligence. Oracle's handling of the layoffs has sparked outrage among social media, with data revealing that it had filed for roughly 3,126 petitions to employ H-1B workers in fiscal years 2025 and 2026.
