Leban Maronite party leader, Samir Geagea, has accused Hezbollah of causing violence and displacement in Lebanon. He argues that Hezbollah and its weapons are the reason for the need for a ceasefire, and that it is also responsible for an Israeli occupation. Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem has outlined five steps in the organization's desire for ceasefire with Israel, including a "permanent cessation of aggression" and an end to the "Zionist enemy" to withdraw from Lebanese territory to the border. The first step is to establish a permanent cessation of hostilities, followed by the release of prisoners.
