The Romanian Football Federation (R.E. has announced that Mircea Lucescu has resigned as head coach of the national team. The 80-year-old was hospitalised last week after falling ill during a meeting and ruling out of the team's upcoming friendly match against Slovakia. This is not the first time Lucesu has been in charge, with his first stint in charge in the early 1980s leading Romania to the 1984 European Championship. The search for his successor has begun.
