Fernando Jorge, a Brazilian-born, London-based designer, has created a new Geometric Jewelry Collection, Deep Vertex. The collection combines glitzy stones with wood and tagua-nut shell, and is inspired by a kalabubu, a collar worn by warriors from Indonesia's Nias people. The line is a study in contrast and texture, combining elements from African and Egyptian tribal pieces to create a pared back yet commanding piece. The challenge was elevating these pieces into statement pieces without sacrificing minimalism and subtlety. The new collection also incorporates unexpected fusions, emphasizing the importance of intention, craftsmanship, and emotional significance.
