9th Circuit denies Apple’s rehearing requests in Epic Games case

Apple has been dealt a significant setback in its case against Epic Games, as the Ninth Circuit denied both of its rehearing petitions. Epic Games had filed a lawsuit against Apple in 2020 with 10 claims, following Apple's removal from the App Store. Following a lengthy legal battle, Apple was found to have violated California's Unfair Competition Law by restricting developers’ ability to steer users to alternative payment methods. Apple argued that this ruling created confusion about what it would charge outside the app store. The court of appeals largely upheld the lower court's decision, leading to Apple's request for a rehearing before the same three judges who heard the case.
