National Weather Service trains Green Country volunteers at Rogers County Courthouse
Published on March 5, 2026.
The National Weather Service has offered a free Storm Spotter Training class for Green Country residents in preparation for potentially severe weather events. The training, led by personnel from the National Weather Services, teaches participants how to identify storm structure, understand the difference between watches and warnings, and report severe weather to authorities. The class was held at the Rogers County Courthouse and focuses on the basics of severe weather. Forecasters have predicted multiple rounds of storms possible this week, with potential strong winds, hail, and even an isolated tornado in southeastern counties. Additional storms are expected to develop Thursday night near a dry line in western Oklahoma and could move into eastern Oklahoma early Friday morning. The greatest concern is Friday afternoon and evening, when forecasters predict severe weather could develop.
