Hammer Museum’s Gala in the Garden to Honor Darren Star and 99-Year-Old Artist Betye Saar

The Hammer Museum's 21st annual Gala in the Garden, set to take place on May 2, is set to honor veteran TV creator Darren Star and artist Betye Saar. The event, Hammer's largest fundraiser, honours artists and innovators who have made profound contributions to society through their work. The honorees come to the Hammer as Star is currently on the rise with success of his Emily in Paris for Netflix. Saar, who celebrates her 100th birthday, is known for her work on African American identity, spirituality, politics, and the connectedness between cultures. The Gala raised $2.4 million for the museum last year.
