Man sentenced to 62 years for September 2024 murder

James Grossnickle has been sentenced to 62 years in prison for the murder of Craig Jacobs in 2024. The crime occurred after a three-day jury trial and police were called to a home on South Gray Street on the east side of Indianapolis where Jacobs was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Grossnickled said he had shot Jacobs multiple times before the gun jammed and after the killing, he locked the bedroom door shut. The gun used in the shooting was found in Grossnicklean's car at the time of his arrest.
