The Roots drummer, Questlove, has recalled having to hide his love for hip-hop from his parents, who initially thought it was a bad form of art. His father, however, believed it was an art form. Questlove's work with The Roots was a secret for their first album, Organix, but once a record deal got involved, he couldn't hide it anymore. Despite his father's disapproval of The Roots and his own career, he kept it a secret. The band's second album, Do You Want More?!!!??!, is still considered a jazz rap classic.
