“Project Hail Mary” topped the box office with an $80.6 million domestic opening weekend, marking the largest debut of the year so far. The film also earned over $140 million at the worldwide box office. It was also the second-largest debut for a non-franchise film in the last decade, trailing only “Oppenheimer’s” debut in 2021 at $82.5 million.
