The Swedish show "Summer of 1985," based on a novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, is set to make a splash at Canneseries' competition. The production banner Media Res International is also considering a sequel to the novel, “Summer of 1986” and is set in the Stockholm Archipelago. The international division of U.S. studio Media Res has signed a first option on the book, set to be published in Sweden on August 17. The novel shifts the focus to younger siblings and could potentially extend the series' life. The series producer Anna-Klara Carlsten and concept director Björn Stein are among the creators of the series.
