Retired NASA astronaut Butch Wilmore and colleague Sunita Williams were stranded in space for 286 days during their mission from 2024 to the International Space Station due to mechanical issues. The situation was resolved after two months of uncertainty over whether the Starliner would be fit for a return to space.
