In what may be the last championship of slow-pitch softball, Creekview High School senior Kailyn Hamby, one of the two girls on the team who did not play fast-pitched, won the championship. This is not the first time the sport has taken a break; it became a championship sport in 1981 but was discontinued after the 2008 season, returning in 2017. Richmond Hill coach Tiffany Gray expressed disappointment over the loss of the sport's championship status. No decision has been made on whether the school will field a slow-paced team next season.
