The family of a 7-year-old special needs child has filed a lawsuit seeking $10 million in damages for their sexual assault on a school bus. The lawsuit accuses the Jennings County School Corporation, a bus driver, and a bus monitor. The lawyers claim the assault was preventable and occurred due to a failure to supervise. The 16-year old boy accused of the attack was convicted of all 12 charges, including rape, sexual battery, child molesting, public indecency, and more. The initial assault was reported on April 17, 2025. Following the assault, the school district announced it was reviewing safety protocols for its special transportation buses.
