President Trump has announced he will participate in a marathon reading of the Bible by Christians Engaged, as part of the "America Reads the Bible" event. The president will read from the Old Testament book of 2 Chronicles, which is interpreted by his Christian supporters as a call for national repentance and subsequent blessing. Past and present Trump administration officials will also participate in the event. This comes amid a heated dispute between Trump and Pope Leo XIV, who has criticized the U.S. military's operation in Iran and called for peace. Both men have stated they do not intend to meet to resolve their differences.
