Snoop Dogg has been refused a federal trademark on "Smoke Weed Everyday" by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The office stated that the phrase is too common to function as a brand name and that it would not be an exclusive trademark. The trademark was also rejected for the reason that cannabis remains illegal at the federal level and only trademarks for "lawful" goods can be registered under federal law. Despite this, Snoop can still use the name for dispensaries, making it harder for him to protect the name if someone else opens up a similar-named store.
