Experts from the UK's University of Sussex Center for Consciousness Science and Jagiellonian University, Poland, have stated that artificial intelligence systems, such as Large Language Models (LLMs), are not conscious, as they are just advanced computing machines. This is because they don't actually feel anything, like humans and other living beings. However, some experts argue that these advanced computing engines, like chatbots, are more likely to mimic humans and make it appear as though they are intelligent or even conscious. They argue that assuming AI such as chatbots are conscious puts people at risk of false or inaccurate information. While AI could be considered intelligent in the sense that it does things, these experts argue it is not conscious.
