Regulator to investigate hospital's leadership

The UK Charity Commission is investigating the running of St Andrew's Healthcare, a mental health hospital facing allegations of abuse and neglect. The regulator will investigate how the trustees of the hospital oversaw the safeguarding of patients and the financial viability of the charity. This follows allegations that 15 staff members have been arrested since October 2024 following allegations of rape, ill-treatment and neglect at the hospital. The hospital's CEO, Dr Vivienne McVey, informed colleagues she was retiring after three years in the role.
