Dave Morris, an islander who spent time in prison for drink-driving, has described his transition into life after release from prison as a "very difficult time". Morris was sentenced to eight weeks in prison in 2020 for drink driving and subsequently served time in custody before receiving a suspended sentence in November last year for the same offence. Morris was supported by Social Security and moved into his own rented apartment this year. He has battled social stigma since his release and is no longer drinking.
