Toyota's Woven Capital, the growth-stage venture capital arm of Toyota, has appointed Michiko Kato as its CIO and CEO of Toyota Invention Partners, making her the first female CEO of a wholly owned Toyota subsidiary. Kato will also become the COO of WovenCapital, taking over finance, operations, HR, and legal strategy. The firm is focused on finding the "future leader of mobility" and aims to pick companies that are collaborating with Toyota. Mia Panzer will also be COO, taking on the finance and operations roles at Woven. This appointment indicates that two of the top roles at the firm will be held by women, a sign of progress in the male-dominated world of finance and investments.
