Albuquerque-based company, Pii Energy, is developing portable solar panels to make solar energy more accessible. The company's “Edge 2000” system can be installed anywhere from a patio, a balcony, or a rooftop, and is designed to move with the power of the sun. The base system will only cost $2,400 and the battery stores another 2 kilowatts of energy. The system could potentially save an average household 15-20% on their monthly energy costs, up from $30 to $50 per month. However, there is no firm timeline for when the kits will go on sale.
