The first bill approved by lawmakers this year in Arizona has been challenged by candidate Dalton-Webb over a series of changes to state election laws. The new law permanently moved the date of the primary for this election up by two weeks, from August 4 to July 21, and the deadline to submit nomination papers and signatures was also moved up from April 6 to Monday, March 23. The bill, sponsored by Democrat Kolodin, stated that it was necessary to allow military members to vote in time for the November general election due to other changes in state and federal election laws that would have left insufficient time for county election officials to process ballots in time to prepare for the Nov. general election. However, a hearing with no date set for April 1 could determine the legality of the measure.
