The NASA's newest space telescope, the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, is ready for its scheduled launch in September with a Falcon Heavy rocket. The telescope, built on a similar frame as the Hubble Space Telescope and designed to aid in resolving questions about dark energy, exoplanets, and astrophysics. It is named after Nancy GraceRoman, NASA's first chief astronomer and a leading proponent of telescopes like Hubble into space above Earth's turbulent atmosphere. The first images could be taken in June 2026. The Roman telescope will capture and transmit 1.4 terabytes of data each day, up from the amount Hubble can transmit in just three months.
