Warning to patients ahead of next doctors' strike

Patients in Hull and East Yorkshire are being warned of cancelled appointments due to a six-day industrial action by the British Medical Association (BMA) in which hospital doctors will go on strike for six days in relation to a pay dispute. The industrial action will begin on 7 April and will last until 13 April. The BMA argues that resident doctors' pay is 20% lower in real terms than it was in 2008 and that the government has not done enough to address pay claims and concerns about job shortages. The NHS Humber Health Partnership, which operates hospitals in Goole and Hull, has warned that some patients will have their appointments and procedures postponed due to the action.
