Storms late then a cooler Friday before a quieter weekend

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more likely this evening and into the first half of the night, with some potentially strong to severe storms expected to turn strong or severe. The main concerns are damaging wind and large hail, and repeated heavier storms could cause ponding and localized flooding near and north of Interstate 70. Despite this, the weather should improve steadily throughout the day, with temperatures expected to reach the low to mid 80s and temperatures reaching the low 60s. The weekend will be much quieter with dry weather and a gradual warmup, with highs expected to recover from around 50 Friday to the low 50s Saturday and low 60S Sunday before ramping up to 70s early next week. However, there is a renewed chance of showers and thunderstorming next week, with predictions that the spring pattern will become more active.
