The first evacuation flight by the German government to repatriate stranded nationals in the Middle East is set to land in Frankfurt on Thursday. The Airbus A340-300 jet will take off from Oman's capital Muscat and has capacity for 279 passengers. This comes amid ongoing conflict between Iran and the West, which has left tens of thousands of travellers stranded. The German Travel Association estimates that around 30,000 customers of German tour operators are unable to travel home.
