The first rally began in Livermore's Portola Park, with about 4,000 people listening to speeches from speakers Faith Alpher and Michael Mosby, and a "human services plaza" where local nonprofits provided information on community services and a petition for a ballot initiative to restore funding to local transit through a sales tax increase. The event also featured tables from local nonprofits, speeches from groups like the Sierra Club, the SEIU UHW, Planned Parenthood, and the ACLU. An estimated 8 million people participated in over 3,300 protests across the country.
