Norwegian Football Association (NFF) President Lise Klaveness has called for FIFA to abolish its peace prize, arguing that it is not part of its mandate to give such a prize. The NFF suggests that the awarding of such prizes should be left to the Nobel Institute in Oslo. The award was seen as a consolation prize for U.S. President Donald Trump, whose country will co-host this year's World Cup with Canada and Mexico. Non-profit organisation FairSquare has alleged that FIFA and FIFA may have breached their ethical guidelines regarding political impartiality in awarding the prize.
