Ohio hemp businesses race to repeal SB 56 before deadline

Opponents of Senate Bill 56, which was passed last year, are pushing for a petition to repeal the law to prevent it from closing thousands of cannabis and hemp businesses across Ohio. The law would eliminate intoxicating hemp products and place additional restrictions on marijuana, and would remove hemp beverages from shelves across the state. The petition needs 250,000 signatures to place a referendum on the November ballot. Supporters argue that the law could result in job losses and job losses for people who use hemp products for legitimate reasons. State Sen. Jerry Cirino, who supports the law, said he is opposed to recreational marijuana and wants stricter regulations on cannabis products.
