Two BBC-backed films, BBC Film's Sentimental Value and BBC Storyville's Mr Nobody Against Putin, won Academy Awards at the Oscars. This follows a total of nine Oscar nominations and several wins at the Cannes Grand Prix and the BAFTAs. The BBC is known for developing and co-producing work from new British talent alongside established filmmakers. The award-winning strand is known as Storyville, showcasing the best in international documentaries. Kate Phillips, BBC Chief Content Officer, congratulated the filmmakers for their achievement.
